Simple Websites for Humans

I make websites for artists, writers, musicians, activists, microbusinesses and small businesses. Personal & resume/CV websites also welcome. I offer sites built with my own Easy Em website framework for a flat fee of $300, hosted by Dreamhost. I can also build you a site with Wordpress.com or Shopify, which optionally integrates with Printify print-on-demand products and allows taking payments at physical locations as well. Those are offered for a fee of $200 plus $30 an hour after the first 5 hours of labor.

The HTML code in Easy Em is very readable for humans and very simple to modify, so you can easily take over modifications for yourself once it's set up. An instruction guide for the HTML as well as changing the number of menu entries which involves altering 3 lines of the Javascript and basic changes to colors, backgrounds and fonts in the CSS is included with your purchase.

A 1 year plan with Dreamhost for 1 website starts at $2.95 a month ($35.40 paid all at once), rising to $6.99 a month thereafter. There's a small discount to sign up for a 3 year plan. A Shopify Starter plan can be added for $5 a month (this only allows you to use one simple theme; Shopify Basic is $29 a month), and you need a contact form! Contact forms and other forms are added with Formspree.io which is $10 a month (You can have unlimited forms). Altogether if you want to add sales and have a contact form instead of just listing an email address and/or phone number this adds up to $515.40 for building the site and 1 year of expenses. A very competitive rate. I believe Formspree and Shopify only bill monthly so that wouldn't all be up front. The first year (including 3 years of Dreamhost) would be

Ongoing service plans are $150 a year if you don't want to do it yourself. There may be hourly charges if requests for changes are excessive. I can supply imagery from Unsplash.com/Unsplash+ if you don't want to supply it yourself. I do expect you to supply a first draft of the actual text for your website yourself. I can edit and rewrite it for you though. I can't present your business or artistic vision the way you can!
